Events Officer
We are currently looking for a motivated and energetic Events Officer to support the planning committee for a special networking and fundraising event, Stronger Together. The volunteer selected will assist with both planning and implementation on the night of the event (April 15).
During the evening, speakers will share impactful stories from the field, guests will learn about our new 2026 program launching in Malawi, and discover how their support directly empowers women to become entrepreneurs, leaders, and change-makers in their communities. Attendees will also be inspired by a special presentation by 3-time Amazon bestselling author and leadership expert, Marisa Murray.
The Events officer supports the planning committee in various ways, including:
liaising and coordinating with speakers, facilities management, caterer and other stakeholders
donor/guest relations
communications as needed
related duties
Requirements:
The successful candidate should be
a motivated self-starter
able to take direction
be organized
able to manage deadlines
be available for 5-7 hours/week starting immediately until April 17.
Work is remote; however, the volunteer attends and supports the event in person (April 15, 4:30-8:30); remote work includes a weekly meeting with the committee.
HR Consultant/Recruitment Lead
AWE is creating a new, part-time Operations Manager role (paid, contractual) that is central to strengthening the organization’s internal operations. This is the first time AWE is hiring for this function, and it is a priority for the organization.
We are seeking an experienced volunteer to lead the recruitment process for this role, and to support the recruitment of two new Board members, as well.
The Volunteer HR Consultant will lead and support a clear, fair, and values-aligned recruitment process. Working closely with the Executive Director, this person will help ensure AWE attracts strong candidates aligned with its mission and stage of growth.
This is a time-limited, hands-on leadership role with real impact.
Key Responsibilities:
Operations Manager Recruitment (Primary)
Advise on role scope and recruitment approach
Support finalization of the job posting
Design and manage the recruitment process (timeline, screening, interviews)
Lead or support candidate screening and interviews
Advise on selection, contracting considerations, and onboarding
Board Recruitment (Secondary)
Support recruitment of two new Board members
Help clarify role profiles and desired competencies
Support outreach, screening, and interviews as needed
Working Relationship
Works closely with and reports to the Executive Director
Collaborates with Board leadership as appropriate
Time Commitment
Time-limited (approximately 2–4 months)
Estimated 3–5 hours per week during active recruitment
Flexible scheduling
Who This Role Is Well-Suited For
Experience in HR, talent management, executive search, or organizational development
Interest in contributing expertise to a mission-driven organization
Comfort working with small organizations
Work is primarily remote, with occasional meetings to coordinate with staff and leadership as needed.
